Q. Is it difficult to groom Pomeranians?
A. No, not at all. Brush the Pomeranians every week going in both directions to keep the coat shiny and healthy. The dogs are easy to bathe, but should not be given a bath more than once every two to three months.

Q. Do they come with any shots?
A. Yes. The dogs are dewormed and are given a combination vaccine (Vanguard 5) that includes distemper, adenovirus cough, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus.

Q. What living conditions do Pomeranians require?

A. Poms are great dogs for apartment living. While they appreciate long walks and running in parks, they don't require a backyard to be happy.

Q. How long do the Pomeranians live?
A. Typically, Pomeranians live for about 17 years. They can live longer with proper care.

Q. What should I feed my pom?
A. Pomeranians should not be fed "human" food because of their delicate digestive tract. Greasy foods are potentially deadly. Poms are happy eating either canned or dry dog food. Dry food helps clean their teeth and to control puppy breath. As a treat, poms can have some Cheerios or milkbones.

Q. Are Poms difficult to train?
A. No, Poms are relatively easy to train; with continuous attention and care, a Pom can be house-broken within a short period of time and can be trained to go in the house on paper,  in a litter box or outside in the yard.  Remember Poms learn quickly and they learn bad habits just as they do good habits.  BE CONSISTENT and let your Puppy know when you are pleased and when you are unhappy with their behavior.

Q.What is meant by the "uglies" when talking about Poms?
A.Here's what's happening - the baby fluff comes out and they tend to look very shaggy at that point, some go very shorthair as to look like a longhair Chihuahua instead. That is absolutely normal - do not worry, as it all comes back.Bigger and better in a good quality Pom, so-so in a lesser quality Pomeranian. Generally, by the time your pup is 10-12 months old (it varies a bit with the season - coats thicken faster during the winter months) he or she is in a full coat. If you don't get your female spayed, expect to see that cycle again and again, especially after she has a litter of puppies. Altered (fixed) males and females have a somewhat "mellower" hormone household, that regulates major non-seasonal shedding. If your Pom baby is meant to be that, your baby, this is the best solution for avoiding this stage on a bi-annual or annual basis.
Q. HOW BIG DO TEACUP POMERANIANS GET?
A. There is no such thing as a teacup or toy Pomeranian.  Poms should be 3-7 pounds as adults.  Seven pounds is NOT big for a Pom. There are 7 pound Poms in the show ring and AKC  lists 3-7 pounds in the AKC Standard for Poms.

Q. WHAT DO THE TERMS "TEDDYBEAR", "BABYDOLL" AND "FOXY" FACES MEAN?
A.  Teddybear faces have a wide short muzzle, a Babydoll face have a short not so wide muzzle and the Foxy has a longer more narrow muzzle.  ALL are acceptable in the show ring.

Q.  HOW DO I KNOW HOW BIG MY PUPPY WILL BE AS AN ADULT?
A. No one can guarantee the size any puppy will get.  Breeders make an educated guess based on weight charts, formulas and their experience with their previous litters.

Q.  What does "pet quality" mean when referring to a puppy?
A.  A pet quality pup has one or more small flaws that the breeder feels should be kept out breeding, so as not to carry on the flaws in the next generation. The flaws also make them unacceptable for the Show ring.

Q.Which makes the better companion Male or Female?
A.In my opinion males are generally more loving, attentive, less moody and shed less than females.  If neutered at a young age, marking is usually not a problem..
